Judy Faunce interviewed by Star Ledger
As many of you know, Brian’s family gathers on Sunset Beach, Cape May NJ every September 19 to remember him. This year, Marvin Hume, 89, who started this nightly flag ceremony nearly 40 years ago, was profiled in the Star Ledger. Brian’s mom Judy Faunce was interviewed. From the article:
The casket flag of Army Capt. Brian Faunce of Bensalem, Pa., has flown over Sunset Beach every Sept. 18 since 2004, the one-year anniversary of his death in Iraq.
His mother, Judy, struggled to find words to express her gratitude to Hume.
“What Marvin does is so … I don’t know … I have to compose myself … it’s just so wonderful,” Judy Faunce said. “I’ve nominated him so many times for Charles Gibson’s ‘Person of the Week’ (on ABC Nightly News). Marvin deserves to be honored.”
Last year, a soldier who served with Faunce came to the ceremony, and just remembering that moved his mother to tears. “For us, as a family, to know our son is remembered like this … It’s such a beautiful spot. When my kids were little, we used to vacation in Cape May.”
