Before moving out here to Fort Lewis, I had completed Ranger and Airborne School down at Georgia. Now I am training with the Recon Platoon in preparation for deployment this spring. We leave for the National Training Center at Fort Irwin in a month.”

Brian will be honored at mile marker #7 on Saturday 9/24. Approximate time is 7:20 AM.

Please join us on Friday, September 9th for our annual golf tournament! Once again we will be playing at the beautiful Limekiln Golf Club located in Ambler, PA. Course closed for our exclusive use. The format is four person scramble, with prizes for first place team, longest drive and closest to the pin. 1 PM shotgun start. Fees are $110 per person, including:

Kevin is a Finance major who earned a 3.62 GPA. Among Kevin’s Army ROTC accomplishments these past four years are:

• Superior Cadet Award, 2 years
• Recondo Award LDAC 2010
• Running Club Commander
• Airborne School and Cadet Training at Ft Dix

Kevin also distinguished himself with his extra-curricular activities. He volunteered as a Big Brother, with the State College Alpha Fire Company, and he is a Penn State Resident Assistant with responsibilities for 30 residents. Did we mention the Swimming Club? Kevin says he likes to keep busy!

Upon graduation in May, Kevin will be commissioned in the Infantry Branch as a 2nd Lieutenant and is headed for Ft. Campbell, KY. We wish him the best in all his future endeavors.

Penn State Proud!

Holly Brewer, our very first award winner in 2004, will be starting law school at the University of Memphis in August. Dan Frechette, award winner 2007, wrote to us from the Last Frontier in Alaska to say he has finished Airborne School, and will be taking command of an artillery battery this month – unit Alpha Battery, 2nd Battalion, 377th Parachute Field Artillery Regiment.  He says this is the job he’s wanted since giving up his platoon almost two years ago.

The mission of the 2nd Battalion (Airborne), 377th Field Artillery Regiment is to reset and retrain the Battalion in order to build lethal sections and platoons prepared for combat operations, serviceable equipment ready for deployment, and strong paratroopers and families able to endure a lengthy deployment.

This year’s date is Friday September 9th at the Limekiln Country Club.

Promotion to Captain with George Martin

“I was a company commander in 1-32 IN at Fort Drum when Brian was a lieutenant.  I thought Brian was a great guy.  He was a hard working, dedicated officer, and at the same time he always had a cheery demeanor and was a lot of fun.  He was a great guy to hang around with and a pleasure to serve with.  I came across these photos of Brian the other day, and wanted to forward them.  One is of him being promoted to Captain by LTC George Martin, who was killed in 2001 while on a visit to Southeast Asia.  The other is of Brian at a social event.”

Sill.  Nick is graduating in January from Officer Basic Course and heading to the 1st Cavalry Division at Fort Hood, TX.  Dan started Captains Career Course about three weeks ago now, and he reports it’s going well so far.

Cape May NJ was a favorite childhood vacation of Brian’s, and on September 18, 2010 his flag flew high above Sunset Beach in his honor. Many friends and family gathered to watch the ceremony and remember him.
