Cape May Flag Ceremony 2015

Once again the Faunce family and friends will gather at Sunset Beach on Cape May Point to fly Brian’s flag and remember him on the anniversary of his death, Friday September 18th at sunset.

Brian’s mom Judy Faunce and Mr. Martin Hume fold his casket flag.

This flag ceremony, founded by WWII veteran Mr. Martin Hume, has been performed everyday for over forty years. Each night from May through October a different veteran is honored and his or her flag is flown. Mr. Hume began the tradition to honor his two best friends who died at Pearl Harbor.

Sadly, this year will be our first without Mr. Hume, who passed away peacefully in April 2015. His family proudly carries on the tradition.

Cape May NJ was a favorite childhood vacation of Brian’s, and we look forward to remembering him with you. Join us if you can!
